Governor-Elect Jared Polis Hires Lisa Kaufmann as Chief of Staff

Colorado Governor-Elect Jared Polis today announced Lisa Kaufmann will serve as his Chief of Staff in the governor’s office.


Kaufmann has held prominent positions in public policy and community engagement throughout her career in Colorado. She most recently served as Chair of Polis’ successful gubernatorial campaign. Prior, she served as Polis’ Colorado Chief of Staff from 2014 to 2017, guiding Polis’ legislative agenda, constituent services, and community outreach. She has worked with Polis since his very first campaign for Congress in 2008. 


In addition to her work with Polis, Kaufmann is a co-founder of New Era Colorado, a nonprofit dedicated to engaging, educating, and training a new generation of active citizens and young leaders in Colorado. She has also has served as Senior Advisor to Congressman-Elect Joe Neguse, and held positions at NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado and the prominent strategic communications firm Hilltop Public Solutions.

Kaufmann lives in Lyons with her husband, Ryan, their 1-year-old daughter, and their golden retriever Leo.
